Create music to fit a specific scene in the upcoming new series of "Skins", and - if you win - have it actually used in the final cut of the TV show to be aired on E4 (sister station to Channel 4, a major UK TV channel, with attitude).

[UPDATE: Just saw it! See below... if you're really interested that is!]

Picture the scene...

Sid's out on the town in Bristol, when he gets confronted by a group of townie girls on the lash who know a victim when they see one. He tries to talk his way out of trouble but still ends up getting beaten up by the girls. To add insult to injury, everytime he gets punched his comedy t-shirt makes a sound...

If your imagination is lacking -  IE... you prefer picture books to words - then you can see the scene you're working with, but before I drop the link, have a look at the prizes:

1st Prize
  • A Zoom MRS-1608 Digital Multitracker - Hard disk recorder, drum and bass machine, sampler, digital mixer, multi-effects, CD-R/RW drive - you name it, the Zoom MRS-1608 has got it. Everything you need to create incredible sounding recordings is right here, in a user-friendly and accessible package.
  • A work placement with Channel 4
  • Two tickets to the Skins premiere and launch party, inc. travel and accomodation
  • Skins goodie bag

Cool eh!

2nd and 3rd Prize
  • Two tickets to the Skins premiere and launch party, inc. travel and accomodation
  • Skins goodie bag

But hey, you'd better be fast though 'cos the deadline for submissions is Tuesday 2nd January 2007 - But maybe you have some cuts in your music archives that might fit the bill?!

See the Skins scene.

Good luck if you have a go (I'm almost tempted myself!)

Talking of movies...

If you thought TheWhippinpost was rather quiet over the xmas period, well, that's 'cos TheWhippinpost has been building a new learning experience to complement the tutorials here: Video's

More info to follow very soon but this is going to blow your nose off, trust!

In the meantime, have a good new year, bo!

Update

Well I just saw the finished scene, complete with music.

Oh, what did I think? Hmm... well, sorry Rich Davey (the winner), it began with promise, but then, well, drifted! The mix was all over the place too - Some elements were barely noticable whilst the synth bass was well-strong!

Nevertheless, well done that man. You'll have the last laugh once the prizes arrive.
