Mixing Music Interview

Cubase Tutorial - BONUS!

SPECIAL INTERVIEW:

RICK SNOMAN:
PRO SOUND ENGINEER

KWIK LINKS

We have used Cubase 3.7 for this music mixing tutorial. Although the principles remain the same whichever audio editor you use, it'll be easier if you have an audio sequencer that has channel-specific mixing capabilities within the mixer.

Consequently, the screenshots you'll encounter will be those of said Cubase program.

Samples Used:

If you're gonna follow this tutorial, the following samples are what you'll need:

  • Hi-hat sample - easy enuff to get
  • Bass riff sample
  • Bass drum sample

That's it really!

First of all...

  • Open up Cubase and load Hi-hat sample in.
  • Click on the channel that has the sample
  • Click on EQ as in screenshot (right)

Presto!

You should see this screen (lowest image). Sorry if I'm spewing the obvious here, have to cater for everyone!
