I just happened to bump into the brother of Ian Lewis tonight, owner of Cheshire-based Whitby Studios in the UK. I haven't seen him in years; good catching-up with you again, Nige ;)

Anyway, since 2003 the studio has been offering student placements for those wanting to learn the finer points of audio engineering in a real working, busy, studio - Ian's apparently looking for another again, to start September 2007.

As anyone in the industry will tell you, getting a placement is the way to break into a full-time studio career - Ian's first placement, Chris Fielding, did, and he's currently working with his second "inductee" now.

Anyway I'm putting this out there because Ian is a sound, straight-up guy (and a sheet-hot keyboardist too!); plus it's good to see studios doing this. So if you fancy a stab as his next inductee, you can contact him by email or via the website (below).
