How Do You Overcome Latency In Reason 3 if Running Midi To Parallel Port On A PC?

I have a PC and a kawai midi controller but I am having major latency issues in controlling the software. I am running directly from the back of the keyboard into the parallel/game port. Would a USB cable be better? I have read that it is worse. Is there a setting I don't know about?

Latency in itself is not a problem. Latency is how your computer can seemingly multitask, giving set time to certain operation/processes. Check drivers, I bet that is the problem. Try the USB, worth a shot. If latency is the problem then moving to USB should work fine.
